Russia’s RIA news agency published drone footage on Sunday (February 26) it said showed extensive damage in the city of Bakhmut scene of fierce battles between the Ukrainian army and the Russian military.

The months-long struggle for Bakhmut, where only about 5,000 of 70,000 residents remain, has seen some of the bloodiest attritional fighting of Russia’s year-old invasion.

Russian mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin in recent days has claimed his forces have captured more settlements around Bakhmut.
